TypeSmith — font viewer, font inspector and WOFF2 converter
TypeSmith is a font viewer and font inspector for Windows that also converts fonts. It shows exactly what is inside a font file — and then lets you do something about it.
Get TypeSmith from the Microsoft StoreWhat it does
- Browse and search every font installed on this PC, and open any font file.
- Inspect real internals: the table directory with byte offsets and per-table checksums, metrics, classification and Unicode ranges.
- Render the glyph table from the actual outlines, not a cached preview image.
- Check character coverage: exactly which code points a font is missing, grouped by Unicode block.
- Read a health report with a plain yes/no on whether the font can be converted or subset — and the reason when it cannot.
- Open TTF, OTF, TTC (every subfont), WOFF and WOFF2.

Your fonts never leave your PC
TypeSmith reads the files you open and writes only the files you ask it to. There is no account, no upload and no telemetry. The only network use is the Microsoft Store handing over the optional Pro purchase, which involves no font data.
Questions
Does TypeSmith download fonts? No. It works with fonts already on your PC, or with font files you open yourself.
Can it tell me if a font is broken? It reports on the checks it can make — missing required tables, loca/head consistency, whole-file and per-table checksums, signature presence and variable-font axes — and says plainly what it did not check.
What is the difference between a font viewer and a font manager? A viewer shows you fonts. A manager also changes them: installing, uninstalling and removing duplicates. TypeSmith does both, with the changes (and all file-producing features) in Pro.
